Description

M.T. Publishing Company, Inc. proudly offers the fifth book in a series of Evansville and Tri-State photo history books by Harold Morgan, Home Town History: Planes, Trains, Automobiles and Weather Disasters. Discover our local past through a timeline of events and photos illustrating the history of transportation and weather in Evansville and the Tri-State area.

Fourteen years of steady and constant reading of the Evansville Courier newsprint microfilms at Willard Library and frequent trips to area libraries and history sources by Mr. Morgan provided the raw material for this upcoming comprehensive local history. The author spent his young life living near the Evansville airport and personally experienced several of the historic events during the 1940s and 1950s decades on and near the airport. This book has been on Morgan’s mind for a long time and he is now somewhat saddened to cross it off the bucket list.

This pictorial history is a 9 x 12-inch, coffee-table-style book with a deluxe hard bound cover featuring 176 glossy, double-coated pages allowing for superior photo reproduction. Additionally, a $9.95 downloadable Digital Edition is offered in conjunction with a hardcopy book purchase. (An email address is required to download the digital edition.) Local pick up is also available at our office in downtown Evansville.

About the Author

Harold Morgan grew up in Evansville, turning 9 years old on VJ day. He had four uncles and two cousins who were US Navy and Army Air Force servicemen in the Pacific Theatre in the war years. Harold’s grandfather Wells was one of the first carpenters hired for Camp Breckenridge construction. His family’s first hand experience fueled his interest in WWII. After retiring from his engineering position at Apex Engineering of Mount Vernon, IN and Calvert City, KY in 1998, Harold has devoted his time to researching and writing about the Tri-State during WWII.
