ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born in 1952 in Shelbyville, Indiana, Johnnie now resides in Evansville, Indiana. He attended IUPUI where he received a B.S. in geology. After his 23 year employment with Amax Coal Company, Johnnie became a geological consultant. As a geologist, Johnnie has worked in many parts of the United States, as well as Australia, Botswana, Canada, Colombia and Mongolia.

As a result of his geological background and one of five founding members of the Central Indiana Wilderness Club, Johnnie’s interest in mountaineering was imminent. Climbing Mt. Since then, he has climbed several volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest, as well as climbed in Alaska, Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Russia, Tajikistan and Tanzania.
