Patron Pages

How to Submit a Patron Page for your Community’s Historical Book.

Patron pages are a great way to capture the history of your family, institution or business in print for future generations and historians to enjoy while helping make your community’s history book a success. Imagine the prestige that will be rendered to your family, institution or business by including it in this PERMANENT RECORD of your community.

What to include:

When writing your family, institution or business history, include any information you feel pertinent, including important dates, location(s), founding members, growth, etc. For a full-page history, please submit approximately 800 words with two photos. (We suggest one historical and one current.) For a half-page, submit approximately 300 words with one photo. Please check with your history book committee as to if the material is to be submitted to the history book committee or directly to M.T. Publishing.

Preparing your material:

Digital files are acceptable and preferred. Your written history should be saved as a Word or Open Office document or rich text file. Photos should be saved as either a .jpg or .tiff file with at least 600 dpi and submitted separately from the text file, not embedded in it. This will allow us to place the photo for best reproduction. Low resolution photos cannot be used for reproduction. Please do not use web images, photos of photos, or scans of photos printed from a home printer. These will not reproduce well. Scans of originals are always best. If you are unsure how to scan the photo to be included, please contact our office for assistance. Please include a caption of your photo in your text file, not as the file name for your photo. Clearly identify your photos and corresponding captions.

You may also submit hard copies of your history and photos and we will digitally reproduce them for you. Please include a self-addressed stamped envelope for return of your documents. Written histories need to be typed and clearly printed on plain white paper. Photos need to be either the original photo or a professional reproduction. Please do not sent photos printed from a home printer. These will not reproduce well in the book.

What if my business or organization wants to design our own patron page?

M.T. Publishing has a staff of professional designers who are dedicated to working on your community’s book. Most patron pages are designed by our designers to match the style of the book. We realize your business or organization my prefer to use your own designers and if this is the case, we ask that you have your designer contact M.T. Publishing for accurate specifications for your community’s history book, including page size, orientation and margins preferred for printing, resolution and color settings. Once your designer has completed your layout, pages can be submitted as a high resolution PDF or native application file. Please contact M.T. Publishing for specifications BEFORE designing your patron page.
