About the Author

Jon Michael Siau has been a lifelong resident of Evansville, Indiana. He attended Harper Grade School, Harrison High School, and earned his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Evansville. After college, Jon began his career with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation as an art educator at North High School; a career that spanned forty-two years. He has served on the board of directors for five non-profit organizations.

As a teacher, Jon won three local, three state-wide, and three national honors. He was recognized at center court, during half-time of a basketball game, in Indianapolis (IN), between Gonzaga University and the University of Illinois, there he received an award from legendary U.C.L.A. coach John Wooden. He won the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation’s Power of Art award in 2002. The award ceremony was held at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. He was also the only art teacher in the nation to be honored with USA Today’s All-USA Teaching Team in 1999.

Jon coached forty-five varsity teams while at Evansville North High School. His teams amassed 1,573 wins during his career. He had the honor of coaching four All-Americans and five individual state champions. Jon officiated the national N.A.I.A. Soccer Championship in 1976.

As an artist, Jon was selected as one of Indiana’s top contemporary artists and was the first artist ever to create artwork for the United States Olympic Committee’s worldwide publication, The Olympian. Jon has created artwork for such celebrities as: Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Don Mattingly, and Bob Knight.
