Description
This program has been made possible through a Historic Preservation Education Grant from Indiana Landmarks, Indiana Humanities, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Sponsored by the Historical Society of Harrison County.
Many of the early houses in Corydon, Indiana were built of hewn logs, although brick appeared during “boom times” during the Capital Period (1816-1825.) Amazingly, there are nine buildings still standing in Corydon today that were built during the Capital Period (1816-1825). Numerous other buildings built during the period have, of course, fallen by the wayside. Details of the location and significance of each will be detailed in this booklet to provide an ambiance of time period with an emphasis on the interconnectedness of the occupants and owners of these nine buildings.
