Meaner Than a Junkyard Dog
By Charles Vincent
In this heart-warming tale of second chances, we follow a small puppy named Cody as he comes of age. After being separated from his home and family as a tiny puppy, he deals with tragedy, struggle, and growth as he chases his dream of becoming a police dog. He overcomes great odds and learns very valuable lessons on his inspiring journey back home.
Charles Vincent grew up in rural Indiana and currently practices as a surgeon in Evansville Indiana. He has always had a passion for writing and began writing as a small boy. In fact, he was a three time recipient of Young Authors Awards while a student in elementary school. He joined the military at age 17 where he honorably served an 8 year enlistment as a medic. He completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and his medic training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He also served as an educator while in this role, reached the rank of sergeant, and was the recipient of the Army Achievement Medal. Charles later received his biology degree from Purdue University and his medical degree from Indiana University. He was honored with being recognized as one of the Top 100 Students at Indiana University-Purdue University of Indianapolis and was accepted as a member of the Gold Humanitarian Society. He completed his surgery training at University of Florida. He served on three separate medical mission trips to Haiti and has a great love for language and travel. He has always been very dedicated to education and received two education awards while completing his residency. He combines and expresses his love for people, animals, education, and writing in his picture books. Charles hopes to encourage and enrich children and readers of all ages through his writing of fictional books and poetry. His first picture book, Meaner Than a Junkyard Dog, is set in Indianapolis and is intended to teach morals and encourage readers to follow their dreams. His second picture book, The Misfit That Wouldn’t Quit, encourages readers to overcome disability and persevere in times that are challenging. He has other works underway.

5.0 out of 5 star-Great Read For Any Age!!
The storyline is very well written and illustrated beautifully to guide young readers through one of life’s most valuable lessons. The writer was able to make the story fun and interesting while maintaining the integrity of the “Good vs Evil” plot. I would definitely recommend this as a must read for anyone, but especially impressionable children, and look forward to seeing more from this author.
