Description
The opening of a new high school is an experience few students can claim. Beyond the construction of brick and mortar, an entirely new school culture had to be created—colors, a mascot, routines, and a sense of pride that would extend into the surrounding community. For the students who walked through the doors on August 28, 2000, the task was clear: begin building that culture from the ground up. Being part of history brings a heightened awareness of its progress—and a deeper sense of loss when pieces of it fade over time.
Amid rapid population growth in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania during the 1980s and 1990s, the East Stroudsburg Area School District expanded to meet increasing demand, opening a new campus in rural Pike County.
East Stroudsburg High School North: A 25-Year History takes readers on a journey across a quarter century of school life, using visual storytelling to capture the story of its founding and evolution. From early meeting minutes documenting the purchase of the property to the school’s twenty-fifth commencement ceremony, the book brings together artifacts that reflect its growth and identity in the early 2000s.
