Description
Ohio River Mile 257.7 is the river navigational mark for Cheshire, Ohio. The book is the story of Cheshire and the surrounding communities, their settlement, fires, floods, and community hardships. The village’s eventual demise may be caused by its 30-year-old neighbor, American Electric Power’s General James M. Gavin Plant.
Author Shari Little-Creech, though not a resident of the village, has spent years researching the village and its residents. Shari is the daughter of Robert W. Little (born in Cheshire in 1929), the granddaughter of Foster A. Little (born in Cheshire in 1905) and great-granddaughter of Charles M. Little, who came to Carlton and Cheshire in the earlly 1880s with his father, Robert C. Little, a Civil War veteran and barberin Carlton.
