Description
The Routes
The 50 backroad routes described in this book consist of minimal traffic, paved roads instead of gravel, and manageable hills. All routes primarily use county roads, but riders need to be aware backroads can provide challenges: absent road signs, repaved roads, high-water closures, and issues involving bicycle repair. Nevertheless, these challenges are not without solutions. Traveling the route by automobile a few days prior to the ride, keeping cell phones available, and using a support vehicle can be answers to most of these concerns.
The Author
Lewis Browning is a retired teacher/school administrator who began cycling at an early age, and continues to ride today. Initially, his riding was inside the Evansville/Vanderburgh County area. But after many years of stopping for lights, stop signs, and traffic, he decided a change was needed. That change brought him to the backroads of Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky, and the routes this book describes.
