A Pursuit Of Summits (DIGITAL EDITION)

Mountaineer Johnnie Williams memoir of climbing some of the most spectacular mountains in the world will leave you wanting to go yourself. This book of essays and photographs tell of the realization that mountaineering, especially abroad, is much more than reaching a summit. Williams shares with the reader, not only about reaching the summit, but the interesting and most unique experiences that occurred along the way.

Born in 1952 in Shelbyville, Indiana, Johnnie now resides in Evansville, Indiana. He attended IUPUI where he received a B.S. in geology. After his 23 year employment with Amax Coal Company, Johnnie became a geological consultant. As a geologist, Johnnie has worked in many parts of the United States, as well as Australia, Botswana, Canada, Colombia and Mongolia.

As a result of his geological background and one of five founding members of the Central Indiana Wilderness Club, Johnnie’s interest in mountaineering was imminent. Climbing Mt. Rainier in 1979 launched his passion for the mountains. Since then, he has climbed several volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest, as well as climbed in Alaska, Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Peru, Russia, Tajikistan and Tanzania.
